Mother’s Day is the day dedicated to mothers and mother figures to let them know how much they are loved and appreciated for all they do for their family. What better way to honor that special woman (women) in your life than with a wonderful home-cooked brunch or dinner. Most moms would probably agree that such a meal surrounded by loved ones is the best gift of all. Dining at home is also more relaxing for everyone as compared to restaurant dining, which can often be rushed, and the food sub par on a day like Mother’s Day. We’ve included both a brunch and dinner menu for ideas along with some great cocktails.

Fresh Fruit
A tray or bowl containing an assortment of cut up or sliced fresh fruit tastes yummy, and adds variety, color and texture to the menu. More importantly, fruits provide numerous nutritional benefits. They are an excellent source of essential vitamins and minerals, are high in fiber, and are a source of antioxidants. Serve alone or with an easy creamy dip!
Fruit Dip:
8 oz. container whipped topping, thawed
2 cups strawberry yogurt
1 cup mashed strawberries
Combine whipped topping and yogurt in a mixing bowl. Add strawberries, and mix well. Serve with fruit skewers.
Dinner Menu
Choose either entree or serve Surf ‘n Turf! If you opt for the Surf ‘n Turf, go with either the lemon butter or creamy peppercorn sauce, but not both since each one is rich!
Broiled Lobster Tails with Lemon Butter or Tenderloin Steak Au Poivre
Garlic and Herb Oven Roasted Potatoes
Smoky Puff Pastry Bundles with Almond Honey Butter
Mini Croissants or Dinner Rolls
Orange Scented Olive Oil Cake or Lemon Burst Cupcakes
Broiled Lobster Tails with Lemon Butter
Lobster tails can be found on the menu of seafood and other high-end restaurants, making it the perfect entree choice for Mother’s Day. Serve with steak for surf and turf if you’re looking to ratchet it up even more. Pair an oaked or unoaked Chardonnay or Champagne with the lobster. For a wine that works well with both the lobster and steak, a medium-bodied Pinot Noir is a great option as it will stand up to the beef and not overpower the delicate flavor of the lobster.
